Horse Chestnut Conker (landscape) Original Watercolour 10x8.5cm

A single conker lies twinkling among the horse chestnut leaves on the path, under the big old tree down the lane. Who can resist this treasure; we know it won't last, but it's silky smooth and pleasing in our pocket, so we carry it home!   

I wanted to paint something sweet in celebration of Mabon, the Pagan Autumn Equinox — a time for gathering, gratitude and noticing the hedgerow gifts that have been swelling and ripening over the last few weeks of summer. 

I created this piece with layers of acrylic wash, watercolour, coloured pencil and pen, the piece is full of tiny details, warm autumn feeling finding woodland treasure. A gentle reminder to pause, gather what nourishes you, and give thanks for this changing season.
